Your 10-Step Glam That Will Beat the Heat!

Honestly, trying to choose the perfect brands can be tedious at times, as there are many of them that promise to deliver on our specific needs, and then there’s the cost to consider for all of the products that we desire.

I want to make sure that you get quality products that I have found to work great, without leaving only cents in your pocket. Overall, these products should work well on various skin types, and you can make minor changes during skin prep to accommodate your specific skin type.

Here are my top recommendations that consist of both high end as well as more affordable brands:

Moisturizers:

1. Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base Moisturizer & Primer with Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid

2. Cetaphil Face Moisturizer (Select by skin type)

Primers:

1. MILK Hydro Grip Hydrating Makeup Primer with Hyaluronic Acid + Niacinamide

2. ONE/SIZE Secure the Sweat

3. ELF Power Grip Primer

   
   

Setting Sprays:

1. ONE/SIZE On ’Til Dawn

2. Ben Nye Final Seal

Spray:

1. MAC Fix+ Stay Over

2. Morphe Continuous Setting Mist

Setting Powders:

Foundations:

It’s best to choose Matte/Long Wear foundations in your favorite brand. I personally use:

1. NARS Long Wear & the Soft Matte

2. Maybelline Fit Me

3. Matte+Poreless

4. Estee Lauder Double Wear

5. MAC Studio Fix Fluid

These products can be found in various places via online & in-store.

Let’s Go Glam!

Now that we have everything we need, let’s go glam!

1. Cleanse your face.

2. Mist your face with a hydrating spray (I like MAC Fix+ or Mario Badescu); using a serum is optional, but I recommend it (any brand).

3. Apply your moisturizer (allow the products to set for a couple of minutes).

4. Apply the primer (now, we’re ready for foundation!).

5. Apply your favorite matte/long wear foundation.

6. Apply the pressed powder over your entire face (before concealer).

7. Now apply the concealer to the t-zone and set it with the translucent/loose powder (allow it to “bake” for a few minutes).

8. Once the powder has set in, apply the pressed powder all over the face once again.

9. At this point, you can apply powder bronzer, powder blush, and a powder highlighter (if you would like).

10. Finish with your setting spray(s) (I usually use the Morphe Mist first then the ONE/SIZE Spray).

These steps continue to work out great for myself as well as for my clients—makeup will sometimes last for 3-4 days with minor touchups, but I DO NOT recommend sleeping in makeup. Also, I always recommend to never expose your makeup to steam, avoid strenuous activities, and stay in cool environments as much as possible.

BONUS TIP:

Waterproof products help tremendously in the summer, but this method will work with regular products as well. The goal is to confidently attend all of your summer events, knowing that your beautiful makeup will beat the heat.
