Why Traveling Can Make Your Life Beautiful

Traveling is exciting because you get to temporarily change your environment to see new things, try new foods, do various activities, relax, and most importantly, meet new people.

It’s Exciting!

There is no denying that traveling is one of the best recreational activities that there is, even for those who travel for work. Going on vacation is the perfect time to leave your cares behind—who wants to think about work, bills, and other responsibilities while on vacation? Exactly—no one!

I’ve literally met many people in the past who have never left their city—they don’t see the point of traveling, or some people just don’t have the finances to do so, but there are many reasons why we should prioritize travel in our lives, if you’re able to.

It’s More Than Just Fun

While traveling is so much fun, it’s also an opportunity to shape us as a person. It is so important to be a well-rounded person, as it contributes to our ability to relate and communicate with people from various walks of life. Some people may think this is an unnecessary aspect of life, but when we meet many people while we’re in school, in the workforce, etc., it’s also an opportunity to relate to someone on a deeper level, opening our lives to other amazing opportunities.

Just imagine meeting a co-worker from Europe while on vacation there—you begin to talk about the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, etc. and immediately, that person views you as a person who has great respect and admiration for their country as well as culture. Since you and yor co-worker have this common thread, it can easily lead to friendship, which could then lead to a business or even a lifelong relationship, all from a common ground—how wonderful, right?

I’ve formed many relationships through my love of travel, and I have friends from all over the world until today because of it. These friendships have taught me so much, stretching me beyond my comfort zone. Sometimes, people become complacent with the network of people that they see and communicate with regularly, whether it’s family, friends, or co-workers. However, there’s not much inspiration in the mundane.

Special Purpose of Travel

There is another important benefit behind traveling the world. I’ve been to many different states within the U.S. and various countries of the world and through my experiences, I have gained a deeper appreciation for life; my gratitude increased significantly.

I can honestly say that being an American has its perks since we live in a First World country. However, some people in the United States could be considered spoiled, enjoying many luxuries yet still seemingly unappreciative.

When you visit Third World countries which are deeply impoverished, you get to see how good Americans have it. On the other hand, those people who live in poverty are some of the most pleasant people I’ve ever met. How can a person be happy with so many inadequacies on a daily basis? Witnessing that allows me to understand that life is truly more than having material things that provide us a cushy life. These people have the least, yet they have the best attitudes. They don’t seem to let their lack dictate their gratefulness. No wonder I’m inspired to help the less fortunate all the more while learning the beauty of being grateful.

Survey Says…

While researching content for this article, I was amazed to learn the deeper reasons why people travel according to a 2023 survey by the Travel Coach Network:

Visiting & Learning About New Places (8.14%)

Experiencing New Cultures & Foods (16.86%)

To Feel Alive & Be Happy (6.88%)

Education & Curiosity (13.18%)

Human Connection (10.85%)

Personal Development & Transformation (17.44%)

Rest & Relaxation (2.91%)

Create Life-Long Memories (1.36%)

Sense of Freedom (1.94%)

Soul Healing & Inner Peace (4.26%)

To Seek Adventure & New Experiences (5.43%)

To See the Beauty of the World (5.04%)

Lower Stress & Boost Mental Well-Being (1.94%)

To Make an Impact & Give Back (0.78%)

I am flabbergasted at the fact that the highest percentage is Personal Development & Transformation—What a confirmation!

Let’s Go?

If you’re someone who hasn’t traveled before, or has done very little traveling, if finances allow, I encourage you to set up a bank account strictly to fund traveling. Even if you can’t save a lot of money at once, save as much as you can to try to go someplace yearly or every few years—It will change your entire perspective on life!

Indeed, travel enriches our life by introducing us to new places, people, and perspectives, making our world feel bigger, our existence more meaningful, and our life even more beautiful. Let’s go!
