The Beauty of New Beginnings

August is the 8th month of the year, and the Biblical meaning of 8 is linked to new beginnings, resurrection, and regeneration. I love how God has specific meanings for numbers and how everything He created was carefully crafted and curated for us and our daily lives.

Are you currently at the beginning stages of anything? Is there anything that has been on your mind and heart to start? This seems to be the perfect time to pursue new things!

FRESH START

When referring to something “new,” it can mean something that has not yet been conceived, picking up on something that was started, or revamping something that already exists. The concept of “new” is still under metamorphosis—it can be tangible or intangible. You can decide to start smiling more, think positive thoughts daily, give more, etc.—whatever you choose to change as a new thing is still a fresh start.

When we look at the definition of resurrection on an earthly level, it means the revitalization or revival of something (Oxford Learner's Dictionaries, n.d.). Many of us have dreams, goals, and tasks that we have abandoned, and if this is your story, it is time to get back to work!

One of the definitions of regeneration is spiritual renewal or revival (Oxford University Press, n.d.). This is more of an internal newness because people begin to feel that there is more that they should be doing—something calling them to higher places and toward a greater purpose beyond self-gratification. Believe it or not, there is an audience of people just waiting for us to fulfill our purpose. If you think about it, there would be no world without people and the work we do. We need doctors, cooks, designers, etc. If no one ever used their talents, what would the world become? I shudder to think!

Moving into the next phase of something also constitutes something new. I have things that were in progress from the beginning of the year that are just now moving into the next phase, so the point is to see your mission through!

WHY NEW BEGINNINGS ARE IMPORTANT

Everything in life involves new beginnings—literally EVERYTHING. From the time we were born, everything was new, starting with each new second, minute, hour, day, year, decade… You get my drift. We constantly encounter new ideas, clothing styles, stores, restaurants, technologies, and more.

We must continually experience new beginnings in order for the world to evolve. If you are uncertain about what season of newness you are in, I encourage you to pray and ask the Lord where He wants you to be, and watch beautiful things align for you supernaturally!
