Spring is here and it’s time to transition into our bright beauty looks! Most of us love this time of year for various reasons, such as better weather, flowers blooming, bright colors, etc. No wonder, many of us Spring-clean, redecorate our homes, and reorganize our closets. Well, the same goes for our makeup look!

Since our skin usually behaves differently according to the climate we’re in, not only may it be time for us to change our skincare routine, it may also be a good time for us to change our look for the season.

Makeup for a Season

Fall & Winter makeup usually consists of matte skin, warm-toned blushes, brown & burgundy eye and lip colors, and heavy bronzer. On the other hand, Spring calls for nudes & bright colors, paired with light & glowing skin makeup.

During the Winter months, many people lack exposure to the sun and the skin may experience dryness or what dermatologists call Xerosis, a typical condition during winter months that becomes prevalent with age (Fowler, J. F., 2012). However, some people may still experience oily or combination skin during time. So, whether one should change your skincare routine will vary from person-to-person. In addition, remember that some people need a different foundation shade in the Fall/Winter months versus the Spring/Summer months.

Spring & Summer months are the perfect time to wear that dewy skin look along with either nude or pastel eye and lip colors. This Spring, the focus is on rosy and dewy cheeks, with soft contouring (No heavy contour creams, etc.), along with the glass skin look. I personally love bright matte lip colors, but this season will have a focus on glossy lips or matte nude lips.

Never Lose Yourself

Knowing what’s in is always great, as it allows you to explore what looks good on you each season. However, the one thing I never want anyone to lose in the name of trends is self-expression. So, if you’re not in the world of fashion, or the beauty industry, then don’t feel any pressure to follow a trend.

Spring is also the perfect time to take it up a notch & really play with color. Literally, pinks and mauves will go all over the face this season. I know what you’re thinking—“Won’t I look like a clown?” Absolutely not! You will be marrying a light bronzer with your blush, placing it on the cheeks, forehead, and a little at the tip of the nose, topping it off with an illuminator—a masterpiece.

Remember, heavy eyeshadow won’t be necessary this Spring—light shimmer shadows and eyeshadow sticks are smart choices for this season. Moreover, no need to over-define your eyebrows. In fact, a fluffy & thinner brow will be perfect for your dewy/glass skin look. If you naturally have a lot of brow hair, you can keep it clean; just use a brow tamer. Also, whispy lashes and thin eyeliner (or even no eyeliner) will go best with this season’s makeup trend.

Have Fun!

Don't forget to have fun this Spring—try colors for your eyes and lips, or with your glowing skin, be bold and embrace the “No makeup look” nude colors on the eyes and lips. Whatever you decide, always decide to be yourself!

Indeed, we are most beautiful when we feel good in the skin we’re in & our look perfectly represents our personality. Be bright & be happy!
